What is Neck Lift Operation?
It is the procedure in which congenital or acquired deformities of the neck are corrected by fat removal and tightening of the loose tissues.
Fat layers in the neck may be in front of or behind the leaf-shaped muscle layer in this area.
The platysma can be located in front of and behind the muscle surrounding the anterior part of the neck.
Fat in front of the muscle can be removed with liposuction, but fat behind the muscle can only be removed with surgical procedure.
For the 30-35 age group and before, where the skin is tight and young, this procedure is performed only with an incision (2-3) under the chin.
In the 40-45 age group and above, where the skin has lost its elasticity, incisions should be added from the scalp behind the ear to remove the excess skin.
Neck lift operation can be performed together with a deep plane face lift operation or it can be performed alone.
The operation usually takes 2-3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.
The hospital stay is 1 day. The drain is removed at the end of the 1st or 2nd day. After the operation, a pressure dressing is applied for two days and a loose bandage is used for a week or two.
Recovery time varies between 7-10 days.
The suture line under the chin becomes vague after 1 month.
